 The capital of Croatia is proud of its long tradition of ladies football. The first ladies competition was held in 1937. in this area thus making them one of the first female footballers on the continent. The pioneer role had Zagreb and Maximir and they are results of today FFC “Dinamo-Maximir”. The ladies have been permanently playing football since 1970., when the first ladies club was founded on the initiative of Vjekoslav Markotić (journalist) who is also today Director of the ladies club. The club was named “Merkur” and after that similar clubs were founded in most Croatian cities. Since 1978. LFC “Dinamo-Maximir” have won 14 titles of National Champions. The leader of the most brilliant generation is Maca Maradona – Marija Matuzić.
Who has won 18 titles of National Champion and has also played in teams that won 14 National Cups Championships. Our “purgerice” played also in the Premier League and last year they hosted the sixth European Championship League (8th -13th August, 2006.).
